Idaho PTET 2026: deadline, rate, who can elect
Idaho (ID), tax year 2026, from the same rules the connector returns. Last verified October 24, 2026.
Informational. Not tax advice.
Elective PTET
Yes
Idaho's affected business entity election lets a partnership or S corporation pay Idaho income tax at the entity level.
Who can elect
A partnership or an S corporation.
The guide describes the election for those entities.
How the election is made
Each year, by checking the election box on the return. The Commission provides an election form to keep in the entity's records. Filing the return with the box checked is the election.
The guide says not to send the election form to the Commission.
Election deadline
The election is the checkbox on the return. Tax is due on or before April 15 for a calendar year, or the fifteenth day of the fourth month after the close of the taxable year. Filing requirements, including extensions, apply.
The guide does not state a separate election date before the return.
Rate
The corporate rate. The guide does not state a percentage.
The guide says the entity pays Idaho income tax at the corporate rate.
Owner relief
Each individual or company that is a member receives a credit against Idaho income tax.
The guide states that credit.
Estimates
Affected-business-entity estimated payments are voluntary and do not qualify for refund interest.
A first-time electing entity with no prior Idaho return must pay 80 percent of the tax by the original due date to qualify for an extension.
Sunset or repeal
A partnership or an S corporation may elect to become an affected business entity required to pay the tax in any taxable year. A separate election must be made for each taxable year. Section 63-3026B, read through subsection (12), does not state an end date.
The history line includes a 2026 amendment, chapter 81. No subsection states an expiration.
